For the Sake of Blogging
How do you write what people actually want to read? View all responses Many many years ago, during my first foray into the world of blogging, an acquaintance from high school messaged me on Facebook. I don’t remember the exact details about the conversation we had, but she was basically wanting to build a following doing freelance work for…something or other after just giving birth to her first child, to supplement her and her boyfriend’s income. She knew I had a blog, and wanted to know where to start. It’s a question that I often ask myself. Where do I… continue reading >

Sea How Relaxed We Can Be?
What’s a place you visited that felt like home? View all responses I’ll be the first to admit that compared to others, I’ve hardly been anywhere. I’ve never even left Queensland, my home state, let alone the country. When I saw this question, I found myself thinking of the places that I have been, and if I felt at home at them. A few specific places stand out to me, but upon further contemplation, I came to a realisation: it wasn’t the place, but rather what featured in every single one of those locations: the beach. Now, anyone who knows… continue reading >

The Chameleon Effect
What’s one thing you wish you had started doing earlier in life? View all responses I feel as though as we get older, we all have things that we deeply regret. The decisions we didn’t take, the choices we did. It invites the question of ‘what if’. What if I’d made a different choice a few years ago? Would I be better off than I am now? One thing I often wonder is how different my life would be if, in 2019, I moved to the Sunshine Coast to live on the beach with my brother and his current girlfriend.… continue reading >

Because of a Game
Would you believe me if I said the place that I would love to live, more than anywhere else in the world, was a place that I fell in love with due to a video game? Well, it’s true. Some years ago, my brother bought a used Xbox 360. He had it for all of a month before deciding that he hated the Xbox and Microsoft with a passion, and asked if he could swap with me. I thought he was joking because I, at the time, had a used PlayStation 2 that I primarily only had because I liked… continue reading >

Create Some Chaos!
When I was younger, I had this idea of what adulthood should look like. I think that’s only natural, especially for kids that lived through the 90s. We we grew up hearing how to get a good job you need to put your nose to the grindstone, work overtime, get a degree. From there, the next step was to get married, buy a house, and have kids – all by the time you’re 35 years old! Back then, if you were an adult who lived with your parents, you were generally considered a failure. People would assume that something has… continue reading >

Tea, How Does Thou Soothe Thee?
“Just don’t think about it!” Anyone who has had any form of anxiety or depression can probably tell you that they’ve been told that before, in regards to dealing with negative thoughts and feelings. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve been told that, well…I wouldn’t be rich, but I’d most certainly have money! It’s often the go-to for people who don’t really understand. They act as though it’s easy to not think about negative things – while totally discounting the fact that it’s often not something that we consciously do. People don’t sit at home and think,… continue reading >

How Do Your Tastes Change?
Oh. Oh, man, this is a hairy question. I grew up thinking I had so-called fussy tastes. You don’t like this? You’re fussy! But where is the line between being fussy, and knowing what you can and can’t eat? Thats what this post made me think of. As someone with allergies, that’s something I hear a lot, and I’d bet good money than everyone else that has an allergy has heard the same. I’ve even been accused of just being a fussy eater and that allergies to certain foods just can’t be possible. In my personal experience, I’ve had people… continue reading >
